Cacık is a popular Turkish dish, known for its cool and refreshing taste. Made with creamy yogurt, finely chopped cucumbers, garlic, and fresh herbs, this simple yet delicious dip is often served as a side dish or appetizer. The tangy yogurt pairs perfectly with the crisp cucumbers, while a touch of garlic and dill adds depth of flavor. Cacık is similar to the Greek tzatziki, but with its unique Turkish twist, it’s a must-try for anyone who loves light and healthy dishes.
Cacık Recipe Ingredients:
2 cups plain yogurt
1 cucumber, finely chopped or grated
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh dill or mint, chopped
Salt to taste
Water (optional, to thin the consistency)
Dried mint or paprika for garnish
Cacık Instructions:
In a large bowl, mix the yogurt with minced garlic and a pinch of salt.
Add the finely chopped or grated cucumber to the yogurt mixture, stirring well.
Mix in the olive oil and chopped dill or mint. If you prefer a thinner consistency, you can add a little water.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Serve cold, garnished with dried mint or a sprinkle of paprika, and drizzle with extra olive oil if desired.
Cacık is perfect as a cooling side dish to complement grilled meats, or as a refreshing dip served with pita bread or fresh vegetables.
